Thunder

If the aire be troubled and disquieted by thunders; during that season there will be good store of such Mushromes, especially , I say if it thunder much. ~Pliny from Natural History
Lycoperdon perlatum or Gem-Studded Puffball

Lycoperdon mycelium abounds in many soil types. Puffballs appear in high altitude forests and sea level backyards. In the Gasteromycetes family, puffballs develop the spore mass inside a protective covering. Then poof, when opened after drying, millions of spores set off on their cosmic journey.
